The Home Lifts Seattle Loves

Having a lift in your home can be life-changing. It can make movement from floor to floor easy and safe for those who many have mobility issues, or need some extra assistance.

While an in-home lift can make life much easier, it’s important to make sure that regular maintenance on your lift is vital to keeping it running safely and functioning properly. Lifts are pieces of machinery and they should be treated with an appropriate amount of respect and care. At JWS Elevator, we are dedicated to providing lift maintenance services Seattle residents need, but we believe that you should know how to the proper tips to avoid repairs and servicing whenever possible.

Safety Tips for Lift Care

Not only do we want your lift in great condition so that you don’t have to pay unnecessary service fees, but we want you to be as safe as possible when using it. Avoid dangerous situations by knowing these important safety tips:

  • Choose an experienced contractor: This may seem like an obvious tip, however it is one that cannot go overlooked. While a lift may not travel a very long distance, the security of the user is of the utmost importance. Keeping safety a priority before a lift is installed is the most important thing you can do to keep your lift safe from day one.
  • Make sure it has a power backup: In case of a power outage or fire, the lift needs to have a backup battery or generator that functions. These power sources will allow the user to get out of the lift if they’re in it when a power outage occurs, or to use the lift in case of fire.
  • Keep the area clear: If you live in a home with other people, especially children, it is important to make sure that the area is clear when you use the lift. Many lifts may be located next to a home’s stairwell. In these cases, it is very important to come up with a system to make sure that no one uses the stairs while the lift is in motion.
  • Learn to recognize when your lift needs repair: When your lift is being installed, it is a good idea to ask the contractor about common issues that home lift owners deal experience. That way, when any strange sounds, like squealing or squeaking happen, you know that it’s time to call. When it's time to seek lift repair services, doing so immediately when you notice something is wrong will save headaches and money in the long run.
